Yamal LNG project      [2018-03-13]

The Yamal LNG project, a major Sino-Russian energy project, was officially put into production on December 8, 2017. It is currently the world’s largest Arctic LNG project and China’s first overseas large-scale one following the “Belt and Road” initiative. It integrates oil and gas extraction, natural gas processing, LNG manufacturing and sales, as well as marine transportation, which symbolizes the dream of revitalization of the two countries.


Chinese steel mills provided strong support for this project. Shandong Steel supplied more than 75,000 tons of steel members, being awarded the “Quality Supplier for the Yamal Pipeline Project”; Hesteel developed 24,000 tons of the high heat input welding steel plates for two polar heavy-duty deck carriers and two polar condensate tankers; Masteel provided 47,600 tons of sections with ultra-low temperature at -45, accounting for 60% of the steel used in the project.


By the way, CLIK supplied over 3,600 MTs of hollow sections & beams with Charpy impact value reaching 127J at -50.
